D-group leaders,

We have an amazing opportunity this Saturday to help stain Mrs. Phyliss McMinn's deck.  We will need 6 teenagers to step up.  Please contact me (Russ) in the Church office or on my cell.

New Series:JESUS

Parents,

Thanks for continuing to check in with this blog.  We are beginning a new series this week that will lead us all the way up until Christmas.  The series is called Jesus.  I am extremely excited about this series, it may be one of the most impactful ones that we have ever done here at South Main.  Tell your students to get your friends who have not met Jesus to this series.

Nov. 12 Jesus:Savior

Nov.19 Jesus: Prince of Peace

Nov. 24 No YOUTH

Dec. 3 Jesus: Lord of Lords

Dec. 10 Jesus: Immanuel

Dec. 17 Top secret (but we will be meeting at the Greenwood community theatre....wait for more details)

Also a month ago we had students writing the names of those they are praying to see come to Christ on a wall in the student room.  I would invite you to come and check out the wall, and also to partner with your students in prayer for there lost friends.  Your activeness in your students spiritual life is essential.

D-groups Sunday

This Sunday I would love for every D-group that we have going on to be present @ 6 in the youth room.  

We are going to be going over some successes we are having in our Discipleship, and also some ideas that I think will help shape where Discipleship at South Main is going in the future.

Spread the word and try to get your entire D-group there.

Volunteer opportunities for D-Groups and Families

Hey guys,
I hope that all of you have had a great weekend! We have an awesome opportunity to connect with our community over the next 3 Saturdays.

There is a softball league called the Miracle League. Its a softball league for students who have special needs. Each Saturday they play games out at the Burton Center @ 10 and 11. Each player has to have a buddy to assist them as they play. Over the last couple of weeks they have been short on helpers.

Thats where we come in. There are 3 weeks left in the season. We need people to step up and help.

2) We will also have a sign up sheet for your D-groups this Wednesday night. Come ready to sign up.

Notes for D-Group leaders

Hey guys,
We are two weeks into D-Groups and I think that we are settling into a good rhythm. With that there were a couple of things that I wanted for you as D-Group leaders to note.

1) Make sure that you get your students contact info by next week.

- This will help you to stay in touch with your group.

2) If you cannot make it to D-Group you need to contact your students.

- I will be there each week, and I can hang with any students who are not in a D-Group but we want parents to know going into Sunday night that you will not be there.

3) We want for your groups to get active.

- There are plenty of opportunities for you and your group to get plugged into the community and our church.

- We will need D-Groups to help out with Ivan Parker this Thursday. If you can be there please sign up in the youth room Wednesday night.

- I am going to need help Friday for the Emerald vs. Pendleton tailgate. If your D-group could be there to help with set up and tear down that would be amazing. Sign ups for Friday will be going on Wednesday.

Two weeks in please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help you out.

Upcoming events

Hey guys we have two big up-coming events that I wanted for all to be aware of.

First on October 3, we will be tailgating outside at the Emerald vs. Pendleton game. The tailgate will start at 5:30, and we definitely could use some help.

Also Sunday night November 9 @ 7pm Point of Grace and Phil Stacy will be performing at Northside Baptist Church. There is no ticket price listed as of yet. Check back for details later.
